This just in, courtesy of a camera phone taking a picture of the sonogram. Since I'm home looking after Ingrid, I am thankful for 'instant gratification' via technology.

Baby Backman: Week 11

Nesting

It's hitting already.

I've got my list of things that are needed for the new baby and I'm only slightly over 1/4 of the way there. Those are the main things, we pretty much have everything else of the necessities from Ingrid.

  • Toddler bed for Ingrid so I can turn her bed back into a crib for the new baby (more economical than just buying a new crib).
  • An actual changing table/dresser for this one. That's the one thing I regret not getting last time.
  • A new bathing tub, since I passed Ingrid's on.
  • A highchair.
  • Alternative diaper forms this time around (g-diapers).

What my mind has been pondering and doing with regards to mixing up the house...

  • Moving Peter's office upstairs so I can use the basement as a playroom for Ingrid, since he barely goes down there.
  • Already moved the kitchen table in the kitchen with the idea to put his computers there, or move my desk there if he's against it.
  • Put up several more baby gates, one to keep Ingrid out of the kitchen, since she's now tall enough to reach the tops of the counters and gets into a lot of stuff I'd prefer she didn't.
  • If I can use the basement for Ingrid, putting the queen bed down there for naps and for guests who stay.
  • Thinking of actually working on setting up a room for the new bambino, even though number 2 will sleep in our room for a few months at least.

Things I need to do regardless...

  • Clean the garage
  • Figure out what I can do with yard waste, since there is a box of it sitting in our garage.
  • Move at least one of the bookshelves up to our bedroom. Maybe if we see books all the time, we'll read more outside of the intarwebz.
  • Get my stupid closet under control.
  • Keep up with the never ending laundry.

I know that's not all, but it's all I can think of right now. Egads!

Oh, one thing I really like about the idea to put the playroom downstairs is that it will be away from the tv. That means no walking over and turning the tv on. Out of site, out of mind, and all.

Witness The Power Of Toddler Negotiation

[Ingrid approaches Mommy, with intent]

Ingrid: "Want something to drink?"

Mommy: "Do you want milk?"

Ingrid: "No."

Mommy: "Water?"

Ingrid: "No."

Mommy: "Juice?"

Ingrid: "No."

Mommy: "What do you want?"

Ingrid: "Cupcake."
