I was so fed up with my OB that I asked Peter's preggo co-worker if she could recommend hers. Well I saw them for the first time today. I'm meeting with the Certified Nurse Midwife. I absolutely love it. I am not getting a bunch of reprimands for not having my MD follow my thyroid every 6 weeks, or a bunch of jerky comments about how I need to finish hospital paperwork and the like. She's down to earth, had a couple kids of her own and actually used to work for the doctor I was fleeing so she knew what I meant about him being pushy. And it appears I'll be seeing her every time I go in, though she won't be delivering  because the local hospital doesn't allow midwives to deliver there, I hear. I'm just glad I won't be seeing 4different doctors that will each say something different every time I go in.

I was so mad when I went to get my labwork done. I had my 1 hour glucose test today, and every time I've had it done elsewhere (see 2 times before) they've let me do whatever I wanted in the interim hour, as long as I was back to get my bloodwork done. So I expected I would be able to drive the 2 minutes it would take to pick up Ingrid from prechool and back and be fine. As I was going to open the door the woman pretty  much accosted me verbally and said I could not leave because they had just administered "medicine." Hello. You gave me a bunch of sugar water, you dufus. I understand the liability issues involved if someone were to go into a diabetic coma from having too much, but I've never shown signs of gestational diabetes. If I'd been told beforehand I would have put off the test, gone and got her, then come back. Instead I had to call Peter at work, see if he could take time off to go get Ingrid from preschool so I wouldn't be levaing her there. That's not an option. I wrote a strongly worded review on the Quest Diagnostics website about the issue.
