knowledge is power, or something like that

Went to the doctor last Wednesday and the little guy seems to be doing just fine. His heartbeat is very strong. I'd been having serious sinus pain and after a talk on Christmas morning with a friend, I figured out what is going on. I have a thing called Vasomotor Rhinitis. Basically the blood vessels in my sinuses are maxed out and causing me to feel pressure, even when there's not snot clogging my nostrils. It happens more in pregnancy since ones blood volume goes up by up to 50% and is exacerbated by decreased thyroid function. My TSH levels have been increasing through this pregnancy, so that means my thyroid isn't functioning well/at all. Well no wonder I've been miserable.  Sadly, there's not much I can do about it. The rain that brought the humidity up to above 50% has helped a bit. Other than that, I have to wait it out for the pregnancy part to go away and for my thyroid levels to stabilize after I'm through with the pregnancy. Only 2.75 more months to go.

The little one has been kicking up a storm and stretching a n aweful lot in my belly. It really can hurt at times when he stretches all the way out, pressing his butt way out and has his feet on my innards.

That being said, I'm getting over the cold/flu whatever I had and am feeling 110% better than I was. Here's to impecable health in 2010!

The Glad Game

I am seriously glad that I am not due to deliver the bambino right about now. It's been snowing nonstop for over 20 hours, we have 20 inches on our back deck.  My car would definitely not go anywhere. If we wanted to take Peter's jeep, we'd have to put chains on. At least he knows to put them on the back tires, now.  I'd probably have had the baby and be breastfeeding  for an hour before we could make it to the hospital in these conditions.

I'm glad to think that there probably won't be much if any snow in March around here. Mid February was pretty dismal last year though when we came to scout the job. That was when my hair froze when I walked outside.

Cold and frightful

The weather outside is reported to be frightful tonight and tomorrow. The forecast has up to a foot of snow predicted for tonight and tomorrow.  I can't say that I'm sad that we'll be snowed in, since we're all sick anyway.

SInce I've been having a harder and harder time sleeping the last few days, I've been feeling the little guy a lot more. Currently he's kicking or hiccupping away and it feelins like popcorn is popping in my belly. My jiffy pop top is about to pop.

Almost nap time for the young girl, and hot hot hot shower time for the mama.
